End of Session 2

I had a very pleasant day -- about the second nice day this summer, as far as weather was concerned -- actually digging on Saturday.

Here's the North half of the site. Doesn't it look peaceful?

I had let myself be conned into wearing the Black TankTop of Dangerous Women so I would match Jen and Kalila, but they wore DIFFERENT SHIRTS, honestly for the first time in about a week, perhaps it was time -- so I only matched Ele, who is cool enough for me. Kalila let me dig from the lower side of the pit; she prefers working downhill as much as I prefer working uphill, so we were well matched.

Here are Deb, Veronica, and Linda, working downhill. Dick and John are in the background discussing John's project (for college credit). The horizon is perfectly accurate. Deb is working on a square between two squares that were started earlier, which is why you can see where she's working and yet Linda is well below.

I did manage to get sunburned and exhausted, but I dug more than one layer and found a couple of decent flakes and a quite nice piece of pottery.

Most of the time I think the rocker-stamped looks messy, but I like this one, poor spalled-away thing (it has no interior surface). We had thought we were into the undisturbed prehistoric until I found a LARGE piece of modern brick and a nail.

I took Linda home for the last time, and imposed on her to stop at the garden center. I had not known she was a plant addict. I hope she comes back next year. As well as the rest of the second session people.
