Finishing Session I
Once again, Dick pulled whatever he has over the weather gods and lost no time to rain this past week. Other places, it poured; at night, it must have been quite wet, because on Saturday they _bailed_out the tarps. But not raining during the days, nor on the diggers.
We have not found anything of note since last week, unless you count going down probably a meter in one pit

and still finding glass and coal and bits of rusted iron: not hallmarks of prehistory. Some pits are producing tiny hornfels flakes and rather similar-sized bits of pottery; but it must be said that it's a very good thing the students are finding them, since these things are neither flashy in color nor obvious in size.

+People are getting wonderful training in digging on non-Euclidean surfaces:

this is not lens distortion, it actually curves in two directions, bringing experienced, careful diggers to muttered curses of frustration.
As usual with two week sessions, we have learned all their initials and they have learned most of what we mean when we ask them to do something; they have a grasp of procedure and paperwork and are becoming useful, so now they're leaving (stifled sob), like they always do, but we don't care, there'll be another bunch along next week and we really like introducing the metric system and the database codes all over again...
The weather is clear and getting warmer. We must be one of the only outfits in New Hampshire who want it to stay 65 and overcast.
